Thursday July 30
Montreal at Edmonton (+6.5, 55)
Besides trying to knock Montreal (4-0, 3-1 ATS) from the unbeaten ranks, Edmonton (2-2, 1-3 ATS) will seek payback for earlier thrashing. The Eskimos were destroyed 50-16 as seven-point underdogs at Montreal and they are 6-0 ATS revenging a loss versus opponent by 17 points or more over the last three seasons. Quarterback Ricky Ray will have to play better than he has all season, having more interceptions than touchdown passes (four vs three).
Though Montreal failed to cover at home against Hamilton last week, QB Anthony Calvillo continued to prosper, throwing for 404 yards, with 76.9 percent accuracy. The Alouettes have relished the road with 10-4 ATS mark, in part because they can control the contest with second best rushing attack (126.7 yards per game) in the CFL.
Edmonton is surrendering 35 points a game against a hot Montreal offense that is totaling league-best 38.5 PPG. The Eskimos have covered six of last seven at Commonwealth Stadium against the Als, however Montreal is superior on both sides of the ball.
